At the end of 2017, Eurogine signed a Collaboration Agreement with Doctors of the World, whose purpose was to donate part of the profits collected from the sale of their IUDs nationally and internationally in the last quarter of the year.
The intervention plan of Doctors of the World with the donated funds was focused on the program of sexual and reproductive health of women in the Sahel, specifically in the Health District of Pikine, subdistrict of Mbao, in Senegal. Within the framework of the Strategy on Sexual and Reproductive Health for Youth and Adolescents (Teenagers) of the Senegalese Ministry of Health, it was intended to create Information and Awareness Centres for Youth in each health district. These were spaces integrated into health resources and coordinated by local associations of women and young people to promote information and care for this population in Sexual and Reproductive Health, including prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, family planning, etc.
During all these months, Doctors of the World has been advancing in the logistical coordination with the Senegalese Ministry of Health and with the local organizations to give shape to the project and above all, selecting the key person that could lead such an initiative, together with the usual team of Doctors of the World in Senegal.
Doctors of the World has informed us that through a European volunteer program (EU Aid Volunteers, https://ec.europa.eu/echo/what/humanitarian-aid/eu-aid-volunteers_en) they have achieved the involvement of a senior expert in gender and sexual and reproductive rights who will begin his work with Doctors of the World in Senegal voluntarily as of October 1st and will be exclusively dedicated to materialize the action plan of this project carried out thanks to the donation of Eurogine
